Research Assistant - 6-month paid Internship

Cambridge, England, United Kingdom · Research

Description

Salary: £18k p.a. equivalent
Based: Cambridge
Contract: Six month fixed term
Hours: Full-time
Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK

The Role

Our mission is to put the power of digital making into the hands of people all over the world. Since launching our first product in February 2012, we have sold over 14 million Raspberry Pi computers and helped kickstart a global movement to get more people involved in computing and digital making. We’ve trained thousands of teachers and engaged hundreds of thousands of young people in our educational programmes, including through our network of over 11,000 Code Clubs and CoderDojos all over the world. Our free educational resources are used by millions of people every year.

One of our priorities is to develop a better understanding of how people learn computing and digital making skills; we do this by engaging with existing research, evaluating our own programmes and trialling new approaches to learning. To support our research efforts, we are offering a six-month internship for a research assistant.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wishes to get experience of educational research. You will work alongside our Senior Research Manager reviewing literature, analysing data, observing and interviewing research participants and writing reports and articles. You will primarily be working on our projects to better understand the literature on computing education, and a trial of a new approach to learning in school based Code Clubs.

You might have recently completed an education or social research undergraduate or postgraduate course, or you could be someone with more practical experience who is looking to move into research and evaluation in the third sector.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a unique place to work, with a fantastic team and a positive work culture, so we are also looking for the right personality to fit in with the organisation.
